William and Laura Scott Family
William Scott was born 11 May 1881 in Ernestown Township, Ontario. He was a son of Charles and Samantha (Babcock) Scott. At Arden, Ontario on 28 December 1904, William married Laura Pearl Campsall. Born 25 May 1887 in Hinchinbrooke Township, Frontenac County, Laura was a daughter of John and Zilpha (Babcock) Campsall.
Their first child, Gertrude Mabel Scott was born in the small village of Tichborne in Frontenac County, Ontario. William Scott was a blacksmith and so the family found themselves moving around quite often as he sought out work. Their next child, Lillian Eliza Scott was born 26 September 1907 in Lennox & Addington County.
In June 1909, in Hastings County, a son, Melvin, was born. This little boy died two years later in 1911. That same year, Edna Pearle Scott was born on 16 August 1911 in Peterborough, Ontario. On 19 January 1914, Elsie Jean Scott was born in Peterborough. She was one of twins, her brother being, Ellis Dean Scott.
As the years progressed, another two sons were born. Clifford Gordon Scott was born 9 May 1915 and Raymond Stanley Scott was born 16 July 1920. The boys were born in Peterborough. One more child was born to William and Laura. This was Dorothy, born 17 September 1922. She lived only two days.

The family resided in Peterborough for more than two decades. Gertrude married there on 23 April 1924. Her new husband was James Hubert Gorman, born in Peterborough on 16 February 1900. He was a son of James Joseph Gorman and Margaret Ellen O’Brien.
In the latter 1920s, William and Laura (Campsall) Scott moved their family to the United States. They settled in Michigan where William died in May 1961 and Laura in April 1978.
Gertrude and James Gorman also moved with her parents to Michigan. Gertrude (Scott) Gorman died at Detroit in March 1993. James Gorman predeceased his wife, his death occurring in October 1971 at Redford, Wayne County, Michigan.
Lillian Eliza, daughter of William and Laura (Campsall) Scott, married Arthur William Raubolt.
Edna Pearle, daughter of William and Laura (Campsall) Scott, married Percy Sanford Varcoe.
Elsie Jean, daughter of William and Laura (Campsall) Scott, married Kenneth Erwin Waterbury. Her twin, Ellis Dean, married Adelma Johana Hedderick.
Clifford Gordon, son of William and Laura (Campsall) Scott, married Eirwen James and secondly married Alma Buskell.
Raymond Stanley, son of William and Laura (Campsall) Scott, married Alice Margaret Barr and secondly married Laura Jane Wood.
