Chemist and Druggist of Lakefield
Thomas J. Bird was born 1855-1857 in the town of Peterborough, Ontario. He would one day operate a chemist shop in the village of Lakefield. His father, Robert, was also born in Upper Canada, about 1826. Thomas’ mother, Margaret Love, was born in Ireland 15 Sep 1819 and came to Canada West in 1844. Robert and Margaret were married in Smith Township, in the Colborne District, on 30 July 1846.

When Thomas grew up, he studied and became a druggist. In 1883 he had a store in Lakefield and continued operating this business into the 1890s.
